Brother's moment

I miss my bro very much. I can feel his absence.....
There are days when I miss him more coz I'm unable to "talk" to him when I really want to.
He's not around for me to have my take-5 laugh time at home. I miss the times he bothered me incessantly to have supper at 12midnights. To ask for advice, to be a listening ear (which he's not very good at but he's a guy so you can't fault him on that), to talk and discuss about Islam. He always has a hadith at his fingertips to back up his reasoning. I dunno how he does it!
S...i...g...h... I hope he's well and happy there with Desiree.
May Allah SWT prtect them both from harm. AMIN!

I was springcleaning my PC when I saw this article saved on the desktop. It made me smile.
You may already know that my bro has his own website. -> www.happeepill.com
A girl has sent him an e-mail with a lot of questions particularly on Islam and Malays.
This is a moment typical of my brother. I wish I had his brains..

i didn't write this to offend you or the malays.

i am just curious about every religion.
i as a chinese ask myself about buddhism and taoist.
i got my malay friend fustrated by asking her a lot about her religion. she tell me to ask somebody else so i wish you got hte ans to my questions.
why malay girls need to wear the that thing on their head as part of costume?
why is allah called allah?
who named him?
he got parents?
where did he come from?
how does he look like?
anybody got see him before?
how people know he exist?
why my friend say malay cannot change religion?
i thought people should choose the religion they believe in but not choose that religion because of reasons like: my mum tell me to... or my dad say if i don't choose then no allowance ... or even my family will think i extra if i dun do what they say..
why eat pork will go hell? why malay can eat other animal and no need go hell?
why pork? not chicken? not beef?
is it that allah just don't like pork?
y?
why my friend say pork is dirty.. why?
some animals like chicken also sometimes eat rubbish by mistake!
maybe the chicken eat the corn on the floor and ate some soil?
is tat consider dirty?
why malay called malay?
is malay came from malaysia?
if not, then why got the name almost the same?
are they related?
which country dose malays come from?
if a chinese girl marry malay guy then must both follow malay religion,
then y a chinese guy who marry a malay girl, the guy have to follow malay religion also?
is it that people from other religion who marry people from malay religion must follow malay religion?
i thought girl must follow the husband religion no matter wat the religion is?
or they stay in their own religion even after marraige?

my friend is scolding, bye
hope you can ans all my ques.

And to that, my brother whom I admire very2 much but will not tell him to his face ever, replied:-

Peace Mandii,

Before I start, I would like to apologize for taking such a LONG time to answer to you. You asked a lot of questions and I need to give you the correct answers. Another is that, I want to congratulate you in asking questions on religion. Some people like to go fishing, play soccer and go about their life without asking important questions like “Why am I here?” or “Is there a God?” etc. So it is good to ask questions about Islam, Buddhism, Taoism etc.

1) i want to ask why you all need to ask for forgiveness during hari raya?
if you all know that it is wrong, you should not do it in the first place!
We ask forgiveness because everyone makes mistake and this is the time to make amends. Sometimes, even though we know that something is wrong, we still do it because of factors like anger, being vindictive etc. All human beings make mistake. So asking forgiveness is to acknowledge that you have done wrong and commit yourself not to repeat the mistake.

2) Why Malay girls need to wear that thing on their head as part of costume?
Before I go into this, you must know that Malay and Muslim is 2 different things. A Malay can be Christian, Buddhist, Atheist etc. It’s the same as a Chinese being Christian, Buddhist, Taoist etc.

Some Malays wear the headscarves also know as the hijab because their religion Islam, commands it. The reason on behind Muslim women wearing it is because to guard their modesty.

3) Why is Allah called Allah? Who named him?
Allah is simply an arabic word which means…”God”. Muslims use this word as well as Arab Christians.

4) Where did he come from? He got parents? How did he look like?
These question is answered in the Quran, Surah Al Ikhlas:

Who is Allah?
1. Say: He, Allah, is One.
2. Allah is He on Whom all depend.
3. He begets not, nor is He begotten.
4. And none is like Him.

With the Surah above, we know,
1. Allah Is ONE.
2. Allah Independent ( Besought of all)
3a. Allah Begets Not (has no offspring)
3b. and is Not Begotten (not the offspring of anyone)
4. None is Like Allah

So that means, we know Allah (God) does not resemble anything that you can imagine.

5) How people know He exist? Anybody got see him before?
How do people know Allah (God) exist? This question was already in a hadith; “Camel droppings point to the existence of a camel. Footprints on the sand tell of a traveler. The heaven with its stars, the earth with its mountains and valleys, and the sea with its waves – don’t they point to the Maker, All-Powerful, Knowing, Wise and Caring?”

You want to see Allah (God)? The Quran answers this question:
'No vision can grasp Him, but His grasp is over all vision"- That means, You cannot see Allah but Allah sees all things.

I'm not sure whether he has replied to the girl eventually...
He is an awesome brother and I enjoyed being his lil' sis. May Allah grant me as much wisdom and knowledge as he, if not more. Amin.
I love my abang to death. :)

Now I need to go mandi to meet Trish. Best!! Life goes on.....

Islam dan Fengshui

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
In the name of ALLAH, The Most Compassionate; The Most Merciful.

Berita Harian featured a newsclip on 02/03/2008 on Feng Shui.
Syukur Alhamdulillah, I chanced upon this read albeit being super lembab as this was featured more than a month ago.
I remembered feeling utterly disgusted with rage when I read it a couple o' days back...

Thanks Be to ALLAH for enlightening me with the knowledge to save the scanned clippings today, for me to share my two-cents worth on the matter. I feel calmer now and Insya Allah, I am not consumed with as much loathing to write abt it as I was feeling 2 days ago. :)
I am still utterly disappointed tho.

There's this Muslim woman who is of Arab, Turkish and Indian descent. She practises Feng Shui. She has registered a Pte Ltd company to provide Feng Shui services. She coughed $60,000 around 2 years ago as capital for the company's activity.
85% of her clientele are Chinese. The rest are Indian, Malay and others. She is a Muslim.

The above is a summary of what the content the clipping is all about.
I wasn't too concerned about it but I must say I was shocked.
And I must say also, What a waste of $60, 000!

For an "Muslim Arab, Turkish and Indian woman" to provide a service that goes against the teachings of Islam to fellow "Muslim Malays" is uncomfortable to know. Although saddened, I accept the fact that this is happening like how I cannot deny some of my brothers and sisters in Islam are still eating pork, the meat prohibited for Muslims consumption. Bare facts I have to accept. I dun really care for the woman who provides this Feng Shui services. I dunno her to judge her. She must think she has her reasons sorted out and justified. She must think a lot of things. hmm... .... May Allah swt forgives us and Have mercy on us for our ignorance and sins.
Amin.

An excerpt from www.allaahuakbar.net:
It is really the empty soul, which has not tasted real Eemaan (belief) that seeks out these paths. Essentially these paths, represent a vain attempt to escape Qadar (fate).
The ignorant believe that if they know what is in store for them tomorrow, they can prepare from today. In that way they may avoid the bad and ensure the good.
Yet, Allah’s messenger was told by Allah swt to say:
"If I knew the unseen, I would surely have only sought the good. But, I am only a warner and a bearer of glad tidings for believers."
[Al-Qur'an Soorah al-A`raaf 7:188]

Our beloved prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) himself could not have known the "unseen" and he is Allah's messenger. What makes this arab+turkish+indian woman thinks she can do better is beyond me.....
Astaraghfirllah hallazim..

Know something else dead funny? See below.

MUIS take on the matter. Read it to believe it. What a shame!
Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura says it's OK to practise Feng Shui as long as you believe it's not more than just philosophy that links with scientific reasoning.
WHAT BLASPEMY IS THIS???!!!!

from: http://en.allexperts.com/q/Islam-947/astrology-numerlogy-feng-sui.htm

2. Feng shui may provide some guidelines to harmonious use of color and interior design. It cannot bring luck, health, success, etc. All of these are niama (blessings, income) from Allah alone. It is shirk (blasphemy) to believe otherwise.

I know I'd be disappointed if they had a middle answer to the matter.
Something like:
"It's really up to the individual. If you have the slightest doubt regarding the action, best to do away with it.." kinda answer. That answer is acceptable if it's coming from the majority of us who has still a long way to better ourselves as Muslims and to gain knowledge as much as we can on Islam.
But for an Islamic Religious Council, I would have expected a straight Yes or No answer. For them to even announce that "seseorang Islam boleh mengamalkan Feng Shui" is irresponsible and wrong.

Another excerpt from www.allaahuakbar.net:

If one is in doubt about the truth or falsehood of astrological information, he is in doubt about whether or not others know the unseen and the future besides Allah.
This is a form of Shirk because Allah has clearly stated:

"With Him are the keys to the unseen and none knows it except Him"
[Soorah al-An`aa,m 6:59]

"Say: None in the heavens or earth knows the unseen except Allah."
[Soorah an-Naml 27:65]

What makes you think that by changing the colours on your wall or to have a cuckoo clock above your room door, white red polka dot curtains and to have your bed positioned exactly 45 degrees to the left will make you be any less miserable than you are now?
Think about it.
If you must position your bed at all, I suggest you do it in the way of our qiblah. :)

I shudder to think how many more Muslims will want to have their house feng-shuied after the MUIS declaration so that they can have better health, wealth etc...

The woman may rebutt the rejection by saying Feng Shui is not the same as sooth sayers, fortune tellers and astrology.... To that I shall then reply with a true and fine hadith:

"Leave that which makes you doubt for that which does not make you doubt."

narrated by Termithi and Nasaee, and Tirmithi.

May Allah be with us always. Amin. May Allah strengthen our iman. Amin.

p/s: i miss my bro.

The world is never gonna change. So I have to.

Different shades of life. The world is NEVER gonna change so I know I HAVE TO.

It's 12.13 Monday morning. Gotta a feeling this is going to be one lengthy write-up but I'll make this quick. Thoughts are running amok in my head. Zero chance of falling asleep so after I expel my thoughts, opinions and judgements in this cyber diary o'mine, hopefully I can catch a few ZzZzZs for work later. My sincere apologies before you read on as I dun intend to offend. Merely to express myself the best way I know how.. .

I'm surrounded by all sorts of characters in this life.... Different ppl from different upbringing, influences and basically characters, simply put. But some I just don't understand.......

Why do some ppl think it's ok for their kids to act like mini hooligans/ brats/ lil "devil's child" just because "they are just being kids"??? Why do they expect other ppl to tolerate the rantings and screaming of their lil' offspring just because "kids are just being kids"???
I'm trying my best here to be mild in language, but it's freakin' apparent that there's a serious lack of discipline by both parents for their lil doe-eyed innocent children to become lil doe-eyed Monsters! But wat's more heart-wrenching, you risk offending the proud oblivious parents when you, God forbid, try to even educate the child by just reminding him that he doesn't need to shout when he talks....he still can be heard talking in normal voice. Makes sense doesn't it?? Not to the oblivious parents coz hey, the child shouts coz " he's just being a kid". Lighten up man. Sheesh!
And the irony of it all, the same typical set of parents will actually shake their heads in disgust when they encounter another brat/monster from another set of freakin' oblivious parents.
It's a vicious cycle.

The world is never gonna change. So I have to.

I genuinely dun understand why some ppl take it upon themselves to be your PA when you dun remember appointing anyone for that position. Maybe they think that you're such a mess and directionless and not motivated enough like they are so they just wanna "help". And excuse me for rejecting your "help" or not appreciating your constant reminders coz being the SENSitive fella that I am, I can SENSE that you're quite happy and feel elevated and at the same time patting yourself on your own back whenever you offer your"help/reminder" coz you're nothing like me.. You dun have to be reminded to be focus because you ALREADY ARE focused.
Well good for you. Oh yes, plssssssss... quit being a people pleaser. Stick to your choices and opinions. You may not be well-liked by all but at least you're staying true to yourself and that's important. At least that's important to me. Now I feel like I'M your PA. haha!

The world is never gonna change. So I have to.

I dun understand why another person can reap in the profits when you're doing all the dirty work. I guess being a "silent killer" is a much much better way to get what you want. Coz at the end of the day, we may be fighting for the same thing but it's still an individual game we play.
So stay silent..

The world is never gonna change. So I have to.

Why do you think your words don't or cannot hurt others? Maybe you know you're spouting hurtful words but you just don't bother to care how it might make others feel. Worse, you might even intend to cause hurt. Dat's evil. I read before that the heaviest task for a human is "amanah". Coz not even the djinns, malaikats, animals want to take that responsibility to be righteous Muslims and to spread the word of the true religion coz it's that heavy. They're afraid they might fail in that task but humans, we took on that "amanah" and as a result some will certainly be thrown in the hells of fire because the "amanah" is just too great a weight for them to shoulder. They fail to carry out the assigned task.
The closest thing to a human is death coz our life may be taken from us any time. To prevent materialism or love of the wordly life, one should constantly think of death. Insya Allah you'll be able to see the bigger picture and the $300+ discounted Burberry bag you just bought may not seem such a bargain after all. This last one has a link to what I commented above. The most evil of all to humans is their tongue. With the tongue, they can hurt a deep deep wound even to their most beloved. From experience, the tongue has enlightened me for what is to come. Insya Allah I will be granted the patience and perseverance. Your words may have hurt me.
But your words have also helped me.

The world is never gonna change. So I have to.

This part I r e a l l y do not understand. How can you question or belittle the way of Islam when you yourself are Muslims? I'm not referring to the very pious of us or even the practising Muslims. Even if you're a "modern muslim" (like there's such a thing as old-fashioned Islam. Sheesh.. ) , please do us all the favour by not belittling the way of Islam or to question the relevance and importance of following the Islamic way especially when there are non muslims around. It is our duty to enlighten when asked about the true religion so when you say something like"ya Muslim men a bit hard lah. cannot wear gold..
but that's more to the "older generation........"
WAT????!?!?!!!? Islam does NOT evolve over time. It wasn't one way in the past and another way now. To accomodate the "MODERN MUSLIMS" the men in the "younger generation" are allowed to wear gold????!! Come on lah. Stop being ignorantly proud... May ALLAH forgives us for our sins. Amin.

I'm aware of my own shortcomings and am faaaar from being perfect. I may sometimes also act like this different characters I write about. I know I've rubbed you the wrong way too. If I've stepped on your toes severely enough that you can't sleep thinking about it, go on, write away. That's the reason we have this venting blog channels in the first place. But I am sorry that I've caused you hurt.

This determination and strong will to better myself comes from my unborn children when I do have them one day, Insya Allah. All I do will be for them. Maybe that's the reason why I can't sleep now. I keep on asking myself what kind of mother will I be.....? I really don't know at this point but I know I have to improve myself as a person now, in order for me to become a good mother to them in the future. The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world. Insya Allah. Insya Allah. Amin!

Hopefully, when I change, the world will too.
